    Pachycarpus concolor subsp. transvaalensis is an erect perennial that grows to 70 cm from a tuberous rootstock.

    The subspecies is found from the north of KwaZulu-Natal to Mpumalanga, as well as in Eswatini.

    The habitat is grassland slopes and rocky outcrops at higher altitudes. It is not considered to be threatened in its habitat early in the twenty first century (JSTOR; iSpot; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
