Psilocaulon articulatum

The flowers of Psilocaulon articulatum are small and whitish or pink petalled. A cone of staminodes around the yellow anthered stamens forms the centre of the flower. The filamentous staminodes are broad and ragged at their tips. At the base of the flower the sepals are fused into a short tube.

The fruit capsule has a funnel-shaped base and has valve wings that curve inwards over the valves.

The young stems of this weedy mesemb are jointed or segmented and fleshy; older ones become woody. Slender succulent leaves growing from the seams between the segments near the stem tips dry out early (Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iSpot).
