Jamesbrittenia jurassica is a sprawling, matforming perennial of the higher reaches of Maluti Mountains of Lesotho, probably not found in South Africa. The plant branches from a woody base above a sturdy taproot.

The pink or purple flowers grow axillary, the corolla tubes up to 9 mm long. The spreading corolla lobes are 15 mm in diameter. The throat of the corolla is cream, the stamens lurking inside. Short blue lines adorn the petal lobes at the base. Blooming happens from before midsummer, lasting until early autumn; business better be finished well before the snowy winter!

The plants grow on gravelly and grassy rock sheets found on the Maluti Mountain summits in Lesotho, maybe slightly into the Mkhomazi Wilderness Area over the KwaZulu-Natal border. It seems like an appropriate growth form for survival in an alpine habitat where snow covers are bestowed annually (Manning, 2009; iNaturalist).
