    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The flowerheads of Euryops lateriflorus grow in clusters on leafless stalks from leaf axils near stem tips. The wiry peduncles vary between 1 cm and 5 cm in length. A flowerhead measures about 1,5 cm in diameter with sparse, elliptic, female ray florets and five-lobed, fertile disc florets; both kinds are yellow in colour. The buds are flat-topped and green, still on shorter peduncles in the photo and positioned above the open heads.

Flowering happens in winter and spring.

The neat, vertical arrays of stem leaves spiral somewhat below the inflorescence in picture.

Dry, hairy seeds will be released later from successful florets (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; iNaturalist; iSpot; JSTOR).
