    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

Solanum africanum has lance-shaped to oval leaves of up to 6 cm in length, tapering to acute tips. Upper leaves have entire margins as in the photo, while some lower ones may be lobed or sparsely toothed. Leaf surfaces are shiny, hairless and thinly fleshy. The whitish leaf midribs and some lateral veins are visible.

Some stigmas in the photo are yellow (Manning, 2007; iSpot).
