    Solanum aculeastrum with deformities
    Author: Ivan Lätti

Things sometimes go wrong in life for some that bear the brunt of bad luck. These problems include difficulties concerning the production of healthy offspring. Projecting the concept to this Solanum aculeastrum plant, the deformity of the fruit should be more of an issue than the warped stem, twisted by past obstructions that have now disappeared.

Still the plant doggedly carries on feeding its distorted fruit via the tortuous delivery route, apparently as vigorously as it does all the others. Procreation is serious business for all living things; every chance to maximise seed production is taken. It is not only the pretty or celebrated specimen that serves the cause.
