Disa stachyoides is one of the many summer rainfall terrestrial orchids of southern Africa. It is widely represented in the easterly South African higher altitude grassland (up to 2800 m), as well as in Lesotho and Swaziland. The species is adapted to cool climates.

The one in picture is flowering about pale pink (Pooley, 1998; Onderstall, 1984; Trauseld, 1969; iNaturalist).
