    Kumara haemanthifolia, until recently Aloe haemanthifolia, may be perched inaccessibly on ledges and in crevices on cliffs of Cape sandstone slopes; sometimes at the edges of rock slabs.

    Safety probably exceeds comfort here. The risk of physical interference from a hostile party is low, but so are the resources for meeting the needs associated with good living, although moisture is not in short supply. The annual rainfall on these mountains is in some parts over 2000 mm per annum (Van Wyk and Smith, 2003; Reynolds, 1974; iNaturalist; iSpot).
