Myrsine africana flowers

Myrsine africana flowers are small, about 2 mm long. They grow in tight axillary clusters, creamy white in colour. Small pointed, brown sepals hold the gland-dotted corolla at the back. The pinkish red or purple anthers protrude beyond the petals. Flowering happens from mid-spring to end autumn.

The folds along the leaf midribs are clear to see, the midrib itself only sometimes. Tiny marginal teeth are present in the upper parts of the leaves (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Van Wyk and Van Wyk, 1997).
