Satyrium candidum, in Afrikaans known as the wit (white) trewwa, grows two prostrate leaves at the base of a flower stem that reaches heights from 23 cm to 45 cm. The leaves are nearly round to broadly ovate with obtusely pointed tips and margins that appear glassy.

The Western Cape distribution of the species falls within the winter rainfall region, from the Cape Peninsula to Piketberg and Tulbagh in the north, to Stanford and Genadendal in the east. The habitat is sandy flats and slopes at altitudes from 10 m to 1500 m.

This plant was photographed in October in Fernkloof (Liltved and Johnson, 2012; iSpot).
