    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Judd Kirkel Welwitch

Seen close-up the Struthiola ciliata sepal lobes and petal scales appear fleshy and shiny among the hairs. Pale yellow anthers inside the greenish flower mouth are just visible. A Struthiola flower hides four stamens inside its long thin sepal tube.

In this photo the eight petal scales aren’t quite equally spaced. Apart from white and pink flowers these creamy yellow ones also occur.

This plant was photographed in Fernkloof during October (Manning, 2007; iSpot; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984).
