The silvery-grey leaves of Indigofera obcordata are finely hairy, pale green to blue-green in colour. They alternate upon the stems and may be simple or trifoliolate, i.e. pinnate having three leaflets.

The leaflets are inversely heart-shaped, the two rounded lobes showing the heart-shape at the leaf tip, tapering to the narrow leaf base. The specific name obcordate reflects this feature. Leaflet margins are entire. There are no stipules (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; iSpot).
