Curio articulatus developing inflorescence

Flowering stalks of Curio articulatus grow erectly above the leaves and stems as seen here. What is atypical is the young plant carrying its stem erectly. When it flowers next autumn or winter there will be more heavy stems, the mass of which will render them mostly procumbent.

The small corymb of flowerheads is still developing in the photo, the blue-green cylindrical buds with flat tops holding promise. There are no ray florets on C. articulatus, its disc florets creamy white (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010).
