Gnidia simplex is a much branched shrublet that grows to 30 cm in height. It is found on fynbos slopes and flats from the Cape Peninsula to Riversdale.

The species is not considered to be threatened in its habitat early in the twenty first century (Manning, 2007; JSTOR; www.redlist.sanbi.org).
