    By April the remains of last summers cluster of dry Helichrysum petiolare flowerheads shown here has disintegrated somewhat. The involucral bracts, narrowly pointed, papery and brown have remained, but are spreading widely. The disc florets have morphed into seeds that may still be present in the dark central patches in the photo (Manning, 2009; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010).
