    Eriospermum zeyheri leaves are normally pressed flat upon the ground. Stony obstacles in the habitat of the plant in picture near Oudtshoorn interfere with the leaf assuming that position. The leaf shape is cordate (heart-shaped) to nearly circular. Its texture is variably soft and fleshy.

    The leaves of E. zeyheri are fairly similar to those of E. capense that are darker with red lower surfaces. The inflorescences of these two plants are quite different (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010).
