This tree aloe gains its popularity from leaves and stems more than from its flowers. But blooming in late autumn and early winter, Aloidendron barberae offers a special treat, enhanced by the exceptional garden setting.

The surroundings are well known to those frequenting the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden in Roodepoort. Although much has been written about the function or purpose of botanical gardens, a place like the Walter Sisulu really exists for enlisting more people into the forces of nature conservation.

Go see for yourself and join. And if there isnt a botanical garden near you yet, there should be one, and soon!
