    This Bauhinia galpinii flower shows the long stalks of its five reddish, rounded to paddle-shaped petals, crinkled around their margins. The spathe-like calyx, split down one side, has a pointed tip.

    Bauhinia flowers bear ten stamens of which some may be sterile, reduced to staminodes.

    Pale veins fan out from a leaflet base in the photo (Manning, 2009).
