    The paddle-shape of these dark Dovyalis zeyheri leaves is more pronounced on some leaves. Variations in the pale leaf venation is also evident. Variably wavy, some leaves curve up in a spoon-like manner, their margins smoothly entire. Much variation in leaf size is present.

    The fine texture of the mainly dark coloured bark on the stems is displayed where lichen growth hasn’t concealed it (Coates Palgrave, 2002).
