Senecio muirii is a small succulent shrublet growing in the Western Cape in a limited distribution from Calitzdorp in the Little Karoo to the Gouritz River valley.

The habitat is shale cliffs in the fynbos. The plant is deemed rare, known from few sites only, but not considered to be threatened early in the twenty first century, due to the inaccessibility of the terrain where it grows (Smith and Crouch, 2009; www.redlist.sanbi.org).
