The winter deciduous leaves of Orthochilus foliosus grow in a shoot next to the flower stem. They are seen here in the open grass among rocks of the orchid’s habitat, well longer than the inflorescence.
The long leaves are strongly veined, ribbed and stiffly erect, narrowing to the stalk and acutely pointed at the tips. Leaf dimensions are 20 cm to 60 cm by 2,5 cm (Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist; http://eswatinibiodiversity.com).
