    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Judd Kirkel Welwitch

From above the densely flowered Habenaria mossii inflorescence in picture shows the shapes of some unopened buds and open flowers lower down. The sturdy, ridged ovaries hold the flowers angled outwards, the dorsal sepals visible at their tips, pointed.

Some long, cylindrical spurs angle back towards the flower stem, mainly shielded below the ovaries.

The erect flower spike of H. mossii is generally many-flowered, representing many separate seed production prospects (www.orchidspecies.com).
