Habenaria schimperiana leaves are lance-shaped to linear and narrow, tapering to acutely pointed tips. They reach a size of 7 cm by 1 cm, maybe bigger in tropical Africa. The leaves near the middle part of the stem are usually longest. The leaves grade into the floral bracts of the raceme, where they are from 1 cm to 2 cm long (Pooley, 1998; www.africanorchids.dk; www.zimbabweflora.co.zw).
