Pelargonium karooicum flowers

The flowers of Pelargonium karooicum have narrow petals, between linear and spatulate in shape. The upper pair of petals have dark red-purple line markings. They curve backwards, or a bit all over the place, as in the photo. The petal tips, somewhat rectangularly shaped, may also veer away from each other. Flowers are about 2 cm in diameter.

The calyx tube is 1 cm to 1,5 cm long, perched on a short flower stalk. The calyx lobes in the photo are cream-coloured on the inside, narrow, curving out and hairy.

Flower colour of this Pelargonium sometimes presents a challenge in identification quests: They may be almost white, pink in various shades or pale yellow (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; iSpot).
