Almost white, the two conspicuous sepals of a Muraltia spinosa flower fold like a bonnet over the corolla and other floral parts. A couple of petals are fused into a boat-shape, a crested keel enclosing the stamens and style, similar to the keel of pea flowers (JSTOR; http://pza.sanbi.org).
