    A closer look at Fockea capensis leaves show the contortions and convolutions of the blades, accentuated upon the margins. Apart from marginal undulation, the leaves are slightly folded lengthwise.

    An earlier botanical name of this plant was F. crispa, referring to the crisped leaves; crispans means wrinkled in Latin.

    There is a sparse covering of scattered whitish hairs upon both leaf surfaces (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; www.bihrmann.com; www.llifle.com).
