Senecio junceus

In its Little Karoo habitat the slender, succulent stems of Senecio junceus resemble those of Euphorbia mauritanica that also grows there. Its small daisy-flowers do not, although they are also yellow like the cyathia or false flowers of the Euphorbia. The white hairy balls attached to the fruit are a further indicator of their identity.

Fruit and flowers are both still present in April on the plant in picture, the end of its bloomtime until next season (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010).
