    Heliophila collina buds
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Ivan Lätti

The buds of Heliophila collina emerge in small groups from short side-branches or from leaf axils, each growing on a longish pedicel. In picture they are erect, a feat for such slender pedicels.

The buds are ellipsoid in shape and purplish brown in colour. Some white of the corollas peep from the seams between the still clutching sepals (Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984).
