The opposite or whorled leaves of Oftia africana are sessile (stalkless) and ovate in shape. The toothed margins taper to pointed tips; toothed stem ridges continue from the leaf bases.

The leaves are dark green and glossy on top with a faint covering of tiny white hairs on both surfaces. The leaf dimensions are 1 cm to 4 cm long and up to 1,5 cm wide (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; Manning, 2007; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; http://pza.sanbi.org).
