    Gladiolus liliaceus leaves and stem

    Gladiolus liliaceus leaves and stem
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The two to four leaves of Gladiolus liliaceus are narrow, not exceeding 6 mm in width. They are about linear with prominent veins and thick margins.

The lowermost leaf is conspicuously long, its midrib and margins notably thick. The camera may have missed the lowest leaf here (Manning, 2007; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; Mustart, et al, 1997; www.pacificbulbsociety.org).
