    Gladiolus liliaceus stamens and stigma
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The Gladiolus liliaceus stamens are together and erect in the corolla, not protruding above the curve of the tepals. The filaments are thread-like, the anthers angular in shape, their surfaces here pale buff and granular.

The style is slightly longer than the stamens, presenting the branched, whitish stigma above them (Manning, 2007; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; Mustart, et al, 1997; www.pacificbulbsociety.org).
