Braunsia vanrensburgii is a rare dwarf succulent of the Agulhas Plain area. The plant has smooth, triangular grey leaves that grow on woody stems that root repeatedly at nodes as it spreads.

Slight pink colouring may be detected on the cartilaginous leaf edges and some lower sections of the leaves. These plants grow in a quite restricted area in shallow sandy soil on limestone rock (Smith, et al, 1998).
