Asparagus racemosus grows straight, narrow cladodes or false leaves that are really modified stems in clusters at spaced branch nodes. Curved spines are prominent along the dull green branched, cylindrical stems. The false leaf colour is dull green to blue-green.
The inflorescence is a raceme of up to 8 cm long, the small white flowers sweetly fragrant. The broad, pointed petals recurve, the purplish anthers on white filaments, angled up and outwards. Flowering happens from late summer to mid-autumn.
Spherical green fruits are borne, turning bright red when ripe (Gledhill, 1981; iSpot; Wikipedia).
