Fresh Mundulea sericea subsp. sericea flowers start off displaying their banner petals first. More mauve than pink on this tree, the flowers are narrow and pointed at this stage. The hairs on the stalks and small rounded calyces may extend to the outer surfaces of the corolla, if the eyes don’t deceive.
The M. sericea subsp. sericea inflorescence may be a small panicle or unbranched raceme, i.e. the stalk bearing flowers may be branches or not. A flower becomes about 2 cm long, the whole inflorescence up to 14 cm.
The leaflets comprising the youngest leaf in picture are markedly greener than those of the dark, older leaves (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Pooley, 1993).
