Tylecodon cacalioides dry flower remains

Dry, brown-lobed flower remains of Tylecodon cacalioides are developing into fruits on this Little Karoo plant seen in August. Some stalks have lost their flowers and subsequent fruits as well, while tufts of fresh green leaves have sprouted upon the many stem-tips below.

It is possible that the new summer flowers will share time with some old stalks persisting on top of the plant (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010).
