The often bright pinkish red bracts around the Euphorbia hamata cyathia or pseudo-flowers may also be pale in one or several pastel shades.

The size and colour of these bracts ensure pollinator notification, especially as a big plant will be covered in cyathia in season, which happens from mid-autumn to early spring (Frandsen, 2017; Smith, et al, 2017; Smith and Crouch, 2009; Le Roux, et al, 2005; iNaturalist; http://llifle.com).
