    Mesembryanthemum prasinum leaves
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The leaves of this plant that may be Mesembryanthemum prasinum are long and oblong, thickly succulent and fused at the base in equal pairs. The upper surface is flat to shallowly channelled, the lower one markedly rounded to form the almost cylindrical leaf bodies with rounded tips.

Some surface spots, mottling or tiny water cells are seen on some leaves in the photo (Smith, et al, 1998; Herre, 1971; iNaturalist; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
