Stachys rugosa leaves

The leaves of Stachys rugosa are opposite and sessile. The leaf-pairs are decussate up the stems with notable internodes separating them. There are no leaf stipules.

The leaves are narrow and lanceolate with slightly pointed tips. The margins are entire or negligibly toothed. The leaf blades fold in along their midribs and curve down towards their tips. The midrib and ascending lateral veins are prominent on the lower leaf surface.

The grey upper surfaces of the leaves have the slightest hint of blue and hardly green in their colouring. The leaf texture is patchily velvety to reticulated or quilted (Le Roux, et al, 2005; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; iNaturalist).
