    Rafnia schlechteriana leaves

    Rafnia schlechteriana leaves
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The simple leaves of Rafnia schlechteriana are opposite and stalkless, pointing up. Stipules are absent like petioles.

The leaf-shape is broadly ovate to almost rounded, tapering to the tip before attenuating abruptly into an acute point. The cream coloured midribs are sunken on the upper surfaces, often curving to one side, the leaf-tips then following suit. The leaf-base is rounded to square.

The hairless blades appear fleshy, blue-green when older, yellow-green when young. The margins are entire and pale-coloured like the midrib (Manning, 2007; iNaturalist).
