The usually grey-haired leaves of Serruria fucifolia are finely divided into needle-like segments. The leaves become from 3,5 cm to 6 cm long.
The specific name, fucifolia, is derived from fucus the name of a seaweed and folia, Latin for leaves, referring to a resemblance.
The plant in picture, photographed at Kirstenbosch, is greener than many of those seen in the drier habitat to the north in strandveld and sand fynbos (Manning, 2009; Goldblatt and Manning, 1996; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; http://proteaatlas.org.za; http://pza.sanbi.org).
