The upper Felicia bergeriana flowerhead in picture has three open disc florets and numerous still closed, yellow buds. Buds right in the centre of the disc are still greenish and indistinct, yet to be fully formed.

The rays of this head spread, only their tips recurved. The small, brown parts inside the bases of the blue rays may be the small, inner lobes of the ray florets, already discoloured.

The lower flowerhead has its rays curled up in a narrow ring around the aging disc where about all florets in the centre have already opened. The outer ones are underway in becoming fruit.

Ray tips on the right in picture show the stage during which the young tips are fully extended, not yet recurving (Manning, 2007; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; iNaturalist).
