    In this Felicia brevifolia flowerhead the three or four rows of green, overlapping involucral bracts form a tight cup around the florets. They end in dark purple to black-haired upper margins. There are no scales on the receptacle.

    At this stage the ray florets are darker blue, half furled and angled up, allowing a clear view of the involucre. The disc florets are almost twice as tall as the involucre (Le Roux, et al, 2005; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; Wikipedia).
