The side view of this pale pink Erepsia lacera flower shows the outward bending of the sepals at the base, while their tips curve in among the multitude of petals.
The green-skinned, fleshy base of the flower where the ovary sits is cone-shaped. The upper surface of the ovary of an Erepsia flower is concave, causing staminodes to bend over the stamens in the centre.
