The flowers of Erepsia lacera in picture display slight bluish-purple colouring towards their pointed petal tips. A few of the tips in the lowest whorl curve down. Some flowers of this species have quite red petals in the flower centre or at the petal bases of the inner whorl.
Yellow anthers on the short stamens are visible in the flower centre amidst the staminodes.
The lush multitude of petals make this mesemb a special sighting and a garden prospect (Smith, et al, 1998).
