The leaves of Erica ericoides are whorled in fours, sometimes possibly in fives, variably spaced to dense and ascending up the stems. They are oblong to ovate in shape, appearing stubby from the rounded way in which their margins curl back, leaving a narrow gap on the outside.
Pale green, yellow green to deep green, the leaf surfaces are hairy, sometimes with a hint of shine. Visible upper stem parts are brown in several shades related to age and all hairy (Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
