The short leaves of Erica ericoides are whorled in fours, variably spaced to densely and ascending up the stems. They are oblong to ovate in shape, appearing stubby from the rounded way in which their margins curl back, leaving a narrow gap on the outside. Pale green, yellow green to deep green, the leaf surfaces are sparsely and softly hairy, sometimes with a hint of shine.
Visible upper stem parts are brown in several shades related to their age and all hairy (Manning and Helme, 2024; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
