The nodding to drooping flowers of Erica mammosa, the ninepin heath, narrow at the base as ninepins do. This is where the included anthers appear dark inside the corolla.
The pale peduncles, up to 4 mm long, are usually covered in soft hairs, while the small bracts upon them are visible in some cases in picture.
The small leaves curve in and mostly cohere around the upper stems on this plant (Baker and Oliver, 1967; iNaturalist).
