Erica glandulosa subsp. fourcadei old leaves change colour from yellow to dark green. Some glandular hairs drop off early, leaving whitish marks only. A few leaves display the pronounced way in which leaf margins are rolled under, making them appear barrel-shaped. On others the barrels appear complete, as if margins are non-existent. Where the leaves are older, the whorls on the stems no longer have all four their leaves.
The stems also vary in hairiness, but have much more than the leaves. The stem here appears about as thick as its leaves (Manning and Helme, 2024; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; Baker and Oliver, 1967; iNaturalist; http://pza.sanbi.org).
