Erica glandulosa subsp. fourcadei leaves

    Erica glandulosa subsp. fourcadei leaves
    Author: Ivan Lätti

The small, stalkless leaves of Erica glandulosa subsp. fourcadei grow in whorls of four up the stems. The leaves in picture have glandular hairs apparently along the margins, while sparsely scattered white spots on the leaf bodies may have been shorter-lived hairs as well. The leaf bodies appear more barrel-shaped than needle-like when seen close-up. The green of the leaves darken with age.

Hairiness on the pale stem in picture is denser than on the leaves (Manning and Helme, 2024; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; Baker and Oliver, 1967; iNaturalist; http://pza.sanbi.org).
