Erica ericoides

Erica ericoides, commonly known as heathlike heath or honey heath and previously as Blaeria ericoides, is a dense, woody shrub that grows to about 70 cm in height and spreading. Manning and Helme classify the plant among the Minor Heaths and more narrowly as a Blaeria Heath. 

The plant is one of many Western Cape Erica endemics, found from the Cape Peninsula to the Kleinrivier Mountains and Bredasdorp. The photo was taken on Table Mountain during March.

The habitat is lower, rocky fynbos slopes and sandy flats. The habitat population is deemed of least concern early in the 21st century (Manning and Helme, 2024; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iSpot).
