Here are some dry remains of Erica glauca var. elegans flowers. The small fruit capsules, growing from the ovaries seated in the bulge of each corolla, still hide among the remains of the sepals. Upper leaves, bracteoles and corollas are all gone in the photo, only the calyces still on duty.
The dehiscent, many-seeded capsule splits to release its minute seeds harboured until ripe (Manning and Helme, 2024; Baker and Oliver, 1967; iNaturalist).
